A Delightful Foundation Life at UiTM Dengkil

(excuse the annoying pose lol)

Assalamualaikum. (wait i feel so awkward, is this how people start a blog post)

Yes you can definitely tell that it has been sooooo long since the last time I wrote hehee I'm not used to it (not anymore).

Okayy so without further ado, I will straight away jump into the topic! Hell yes I'm in a state of euphoria when it come to UiTM Dengkil. So as a dull introduction that nobody will ever read (even if anyone does, they won't care), I was (?) a 2019/2020 TESL student here there in UiTM Dengkil. Not sure what else could be essential to this post but I guess if anyone ever encounter my blog and wondering about what's good in ASiD (we call Asasi Dengkil as ASiD), you can try to read my messy post yeayy 'cause I don't know how to write in a creative and attractive way.

**Asasi Dengkil offers SPM leavers (tahun semasa) with 4 courses;
  • Asasi Sains
  • Asasi Kejuruteraan (engineering for a cooler and sassy name)
  • Asasi Undang-undang (KPM/UiTM)
  • Asasi TESL
I don't think so I have to explain much about asasi or foundation in terms of the exact definition. I believe that everyone is familiar with the terms- foundation, matriculation, diploma,... and the list goes on.

Let's start with the F.A.Q that can be found in every entry pertaining of UiTM Dengkil.

Where is UiTM Dengkil located?
Honestly, it is clearly stated in the university name so yes, it is located in Dengkil, Selangor.
Here is the address btw hehee
Universiti Teknologi MARA Kampus Dengkil, 43800 Dengkil, Selangor

How long is the duration/how many semester of Asasi?
Every courses have the same study duration. Since asasi is a sort of 'fast track', so it only takes approximately 1 year (10 months to be precise). In other word, it is a 1 year full time preparatory pre-degree programme/consist of 2 semesters

What is the minimum requirement to be accepted in Asasi Dengkil?
It is vary for every courses but you can refer to the official website for more information (https://asasi.uitm.edu.my/web/)

Is the study tough?
You bet! Nah, just kidding. Fret not, if you know what to prioritize (dan tidak termakan hasutan syaitan durjana) you will definitely grade your asasi in time. Unless you are stuck with RMO just like now huhu.

Do all students eligible to receive any kind of allowance?
Not sure of the previous years but during my batch (2019/2020), students whose both parents'/guardians with the total income of under RM 10000.00/month are eligible to receive the allowance under KPT for two whole semesters (unless you break any rules and regulations set). NOTE: From what I heard, my housemate's parent total income is around RM 10100.00 so yes automatically marked 'tidak layak'.

How much is the allowance?
RM 1960 per semester. (excluded flight ticket for Sabah/Sarawak)
Usually you will get the first allowance di penghujung semester 1 and for the second semester (which is supposed to be the last semester), you will get your allowance on early of the semester.

Do the students have to pay the allowance back?
Apparently because it is an allowance, no need. It is not a pinjaman like PTPTN. Just make sure that you don't go against the perjanjian, then you are good to go!

Fees?
Now, let's dive in with the money-related thing that you have to pay. I did it on purpose, telling the allowance first to make you be on cloud nine yeayy and then boooomm! instant headache seeing the amount of money to pay for the fees

I'm not sure if the fee is fix for every course or the other way around, but here is based on mine (Asasi Tesl):

Semester 1

Yuran Pengajian - RM 693.00 + RM 80.00 (this is for medical checkup)
Yuran Kolej - RM 420.00
Electric appliances bil - RM10/item and since I only brought my laptop and phone charger, so I only need to pay RM20 yeayy!

Ohh! Medical checkup buat dekat dalam UiTM Dengkil jugak. You guys will be sorted according to your class lepas tu nanti pihak uitm yang akan keluarkan the schedule for you. Don't worry, buat kat Pusat Kesihatan or we call it PK

Semester 2

Since it is the second semester and not the beginning of university life kan, so the fee has been reduced sebab exclude benda benda time first registration.

How about the building? Cafeteria? Dorm? Etc?
Since UiTM Dengkil is actually a Centre of Foundation Studies, so that means you won't have any senior or junior la sebab lagipun it's a one year programme right? You come and go just like that (cryy) So when you don't have to share the building with your senior or junior at the same time (technically they are not exist lol), and there are only 4 courses altogether, campus sini tak la besar macam main campus Shah Alam or any other uitm branches.

There are several buildings in UiTM Dengkil and chances for you to get lost is like..... 0.0001% (?) ok senanya ni aftermath of watching An Incurable Case of Love sooo jom la aku tunjuk sikit. Kira macam university-tour if you ever curious or somehow macam nerve-wracking ke kan sebab baru nak start university life, so this is like the sneak peek of it.

Bangunan Kelas
Bangunan Etika
Bangunan Dinamik
Bangunan Progresif
(refer to the picture above) bumbung ceklat yang on the left is Studio Orkid. Usually tesl students yang guna untuk class Literature/Drama. Besides, event pun banyak jugak buat kat situ. Whereas bumbung ceklat yang kanan tu pulak is Kafe Palma. Library pulak kat belakang bangunan nii. Just lalu the hallway at this building and then the library (PTAR) is on the left!

here is the ootd outside Studio Orkid hehee this is my first week btw lol
inside of Studio Orkid (it's me and bunch of crackheads squad- 4/7)

Cafeteria

yours truly anjung

Anjung is a two-floor building, in which the first floor is the food court untuk memuatkan all the students gituh. I can say that it's kinda spacious. The second floor is where the atm machine, kedai serbaneka, kedai photostate located. Currently ada 2 atm machines; Bank Islam (kemonnn, uitm mesti la bank islam tu essential) & Bank Rakyat. Kedai serbaneka ada dalam 2 (?) je seingat aku. Kedai photostate banyak jugak sebab kalau dah nak exam or week 13 & 14 especially kemain penuh la orang nak print la photostate.

Another tempat makan is Kafe Palma!

ice cream durian palma ftw!

So Kafe Palma ni bertentangan je dengan Studio Orkid. I don't have gambar kafe ni sahaja sebab jarang la aku lepak makan sini hahaha but if nak feel feel mewah, datang la makan sini. Ada aircond tu feel macam sejuk korea lol but on a serious note, takde beza pun harga makanan kat anjung dengan palma. Rasa pun sedap je dedua cuma palma win part ice cream lah of course HAHA. But since dah tutup ni, idk if they will re-open again ke cane hshshs ikut nasib ah gituu.

Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak (PTAR)
this is actually golgi , but dekat ptar punya building. on the left is Bilik Bacaan (BB)
So basically PTAR ni library, ada 4 floors. Apa yang best? Frankly speaking, buku tak banyak pun ahahaha I guess because it's a new campus (but consider that sekarang dah 2020 takla baru sangat hehee). Well boleh je if nak borrow books from another uitm campus through website library uitm tu jugak. Later on you will be introduced on the website. Fret not! Afterwards feel free to use the privilege because I guess I took it for granted so I've never experienced it before huhu

Lepas tu every levels ni actually dorang divide with few zones. First floor tu biasa ah tempat ada kaunter pinjaman etc so completely zone senyap. Btw pulang buku boleh je pakai machine kat luar PTAR in case malas nak buat manually. Macam biasa, tak pernah buat hahaha sebab TESL mana nak refer selalu + our course literally boleh je masuk any topic, tak fix pun.

What's on the other floors? Nothing much. Ada meja kerusi je la haa rak buku kat bawah sekali je. And then atas atas tu ada bilik bilik lain macam bilik kalis bunyi, bilik komputer gitu lah. Oh btw you guys can pinjam board game kat first floor. Usually kitorang main board game kat level 4 sebab situ memang social zone. Yes, boleh bercakap. But don't be too loud la pepandai control jangan jadi pasar malam teruk sangat hahaha but you see, sometime jumpa je orang study kat situ. They even make a fuss nak jeling pulak bila orang bercakap but it clearly stated Social Zone so what to expect lol. Haa btw antara board games dia; Scrabble, UNO cards, Jenga Wooden Tower, etc. It was fun spending time playing the games with friends! Of course, I didn't leave any entertainment hahahaa

Nak masuk PTAR ni kan, kena pakai student card ye anak anak. Because your student card basically macam access card condo laa hahaa takde, tak yah berangan nak masuk. Well unless kau team up dengan member, boleh je lol just don't get yourself caught. And of course no food and beverages lah. Beg pun takleh. Kalau come straight away from class or nak lepak jap before class, beg tu boleh letak kat bilik locker. Bilik locker ni luar PTAR level 1, asing lelaki dan perempuan (ada vibes uiam tau) Tapi tak berkunci pun locker tu. Locker berkunci ada jugak in between bilik locker lelaki dan perempuan but I've never used it. Maybe berbayar?? Tapi kalau nak secure without keluarkan duit, effort kena ada. Beli sendiri padlock and taruk kat locker yang korang guna tu, takde masalah pun. Just habis guna, bawak balik la padlock tu jangan buat harta macam locker tu under your name. Tu harta benda awam, semua warga uitm share hahahaa use common sense don't forget eh this is like the most important thing yang supposed to be highlighted!

Dewan Kuliah (DK)
DK-D1 (the largest DK)
Dewan Kuliah or (DK) is located in Dinamik building. Ada 5 DK kat sini and yang the largest capacity of course la the main DK, which is DK-D1. As far as I know, semua students except TESL pakai DK but depends on their schedule jugak la. Tapi usually memang tesl tak pakai dewan untuk belajar unless ada combine dengan mana mana kelas ke, tu pun kalau lecturer nak guna dewan. Kalau ada event pun boleh jugak buat kat sini. Contoh macam gambar atas ni masa my class T09 ada buat event untuk our College Study Skills subject (CSS), so we booked the hall for a few hours masa weekend. I don't have gambar DK yang lain tapi sama je la function cuma a bit smaller. Semua pintu utama DK is on the second floor of Dinamik building.

Bangunan Pentadbiran
Bangunan putih yang dekat dengan bas tu is Pusat Islam (surau)
Apa ada dekat Bangunan Pentadbiran? HEA, HEP. Basically any urusan berkaitan akademik, pelajar, yuran yada yada semua kat sini la. Bilik lecturer pun dekat sini jugak. This is UiTM Dengkil's skyscraper sebab ni je la the tallest building. 11 floors! (acah kann lol) anyway kalau korang dapat uitm dengkil, please make sure to go to level 11!! Especially if you love watching scenery.

Pusat Islam (surau)
Langit tu bonus hehee
Wahai kaum Adam, solat jumaat kat sini lah ye. Orang luar pun selalu masuk solat kat sini, bukan students je. Balkoni bilik aku menghadap surau, so setiap kali azan memang menyeru sangat. Saja sangat kalau terlepas panggilan solat, surau tepi telinga padahal. Lepas tu kalau hari jumaat tu kan, after lunch tu balik bilik ingat nak buat taik mata. But sebab bilik dekat dengan surau, so sama sama la dengar khutbah. Kalau ada kuliah maghrib ke apa pun dengar sekali, boleh join insaf macam sama sama pi surau (syukran alhamdulillah)

Is there any curfew?
Yes you are absolutely correct! Curfew ada je. Everyday, korang boleh keluar around 7am or 8am (i forgot this one sebab jarang la keluar awal) but whatever the occasion is, kena sampai uitm before 11pm. But one thing yang personally aku rasa not bad sebab compare to matriculation (in terms of hang out ye bukan comparison lain), weekdays or weekend suka hati la nak keluar anytime asalkan tak langgar curfew. Let say on weekday macam Jumaat semua class cancel, keluar je lah. If Jumaat tu ada satu kelas pagi and ada long gaps before kelas petang, boleh jugak keluar. Pandai pandai la adjust timing to ensure that tak missed the next class.

Oh! Sama jugak la even korang dalam uitm sekali pun, 11pm tu dah kena stop every activities lah. If korang malam malam suka lepak anywhere outside of your bilik, make sure to naik bilik not past 11pm la. Or else diburu oleh pakcik pb (polis bantuan).

Can the students sleepover somewhere else?

Weekdays - cannot
Weekend - of course, including going back to your hometown

Tapi ada je yang sleepover kat luar. Just make sure not to get caught. Never get yourself in any trouble lol. Weekend pun kekadang kalau aku rasa nak balik rumah, aku balik je. Lagipun my home is 40 minutes away so it's no big deal, every weekend boleh je balik kalau nak.

Say for instance la during weekend ada event, usually students tak dibenarkan balik. Kalau nak balik jugak pandai pandai lah. Aku pernah je balik minggu event sebab ada appointment on Friday. Supposedly kena la come back after appointment tu tapi why should I hahahaha kita take advantage sikit lah dah alang alang dapat pelepasan balik sehari awal.

Another thing is, New Year Eve masa tu aku dengan housemates overnight kat luar sebab nak celebrate gituu hahaha so kitorang keluar around 9.30pm or 10pm lupa dah and balik esoknya at 7am. What is sleeping pattern anyway? I never have one lol. But on hari yang macam ni ramai je students buat ceni lek lek je.

What about the attire?

Isnin ;
- Lelaki compulsory pakai formal attire.
- Perempuan compulsory pakai baju kurung.

Rabu (for Law Student only) ;

Pakai pakaian macam in court gituu (usually they wear black and white).

As a tesl student, kalau aku nak wear white blouse kan selalu tengok calendar dulu sebab tak nak orang fikir aku law. It's nothing much pun boleh je pakai cuma aku tak nak hahahaha but it's fun la hari rabu je everyone surely knows mana satu law student wehh!

Jumaat ;

Lelaki - Baju melayu/jubah (seeloknya)
Perempuan - Baju kurung/jubah (seeloknya)

But it's optional on Friday tu. Cuma dia macam sunat muakkad laa better buat daripada tidak. Tapi you won't be fined lah kalau jumaat tu pakai baju casual pun because I always do bila malas nak iron jubah.

Hari hari lain, korang boleh je pakai apa apa jenis baju as long as menutup aurat, sopan, sedap mata memandang. Kalau lebih kerajinan tu pakai je lah baju kurung seminggu, selamat daripada kecaman dan saman HAHA and PLEASE eh jangan la pulak pakai selipar. Not proper la nak pegi belajar, benda formal kot. Masa sekolah pun kita pakai kasut kan so kena la beretika. Sport shoes ke apa apa suka hati la bertutup centu is better. Nak pakai heels ke wedges anything, please do so but not selipar. Pernah je students kena saman sebab ternampak pakai selipar, seluar sendat, tuck-in baju (perempuan), etc. Lecturer pun ada certain yang dapat kuasa saman ni so you better brace yourself kalau betul nak berani mati (unless you really don't mind paying them)

Since I'm the alumni of Asasi TESL, I don't know much about the other courses but everyone surely is having fun here. You know, the shorter time you have, the more fun you will get. Life is like that lol. Told you what, I still can't move on with this place. Especially because 2019/2020 intake couldn't finish Asasi in a beautiful way and we have to do ODL for the remaining 3 weeks of lecture week that we missed because of RMO.

Honestly, banyak sangat benda nak share. Memang tak pernah cukup ah kalau cakap pasal dengkil. I'm glad that I'm among the chosen one to experience every bit and pieces of uitm dengkil. Will surely come back again for a visit sebab tak pernah cukup la ootd dan gambar kat sini. Dekat sini tiba tiba semua boleh jadi photogenic sebab setiap hari ada je dok ootd kat padang etika lah, segala ceruk yang mampu haa selagi boleh hehee.

If anyone read this post and happen to have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll try my best to give the best answer (because i'm afraid that i didn't give the answer you anticipate for).

I'm thinking of doing another part jugak sebab ni macam basic ah what's inside of ASiD. Lagipun aku just nak express my happiness hahaha so might as well buat je another post to talk about my day and everything in dengkil. Aku belum cakap lagi part keluar outing apa semua or tempat lepak kan hahaha I'll do so in my next entry.

LIFE HACKS: Before I completely forgot, all bangunan pentadbiran, dinamik, etika and progresif are connected to each other. Kalau nak jimat masa or you're running out of time, boleh je lalu the bridge yang hubungkan bangunan tu. So tak payah la berebut lif kann. And also, Anjung Dengkil is connected to Pejabat Polis Bantuan. This is useful for male sebab kolej tualang nun jauh di belakang lol
As the resident of Dahlia 3, I would say that Dahlia 3 is the best sebab the nearest to main gate (pagar belakang pun tak jauh lol), dekat dengan surau, court futsal, anjung, and kelas pun tak jauh mana hahaa heaven weh sumpah. Kalau aku boleh turn back time pun, aku tetap nak duduk dekat bilik aku lol sumpah best! Tapi for girls, kalau nak amek gambar langit langit dengkil yang cantik tuu kat Dahlia 3 tak dapat laa. Paling senang kalau kat Dahlia 1.

Okayy so till the next entry, thanks for reading!
I'm sorry if it's boring T^T
